Depending on where you live, you may be putting your swimwear away for the season and getting ready for cooler weather. It’s important to store your swimwear properly to prolong the life of your garment. Swimsuits are far too expensive these days to replace them every year if you don’t have to.
While regular care of swimwear during the season is important, it’s just as important to make sure you’ve washed your swimwear properly before you pack it away. Molly’s Suds SWIM™ has a gentle detergent designed for swimwear that can help protect the elastic and fibers of your swimwear.
Here are our tips for washing your swimwear:
Rinse! Before washing your swimwear be sure to rinse out chlorine, salt, sand, and sunscreen. Rinse in cool water.
Hand Wash! Skip the machine when washing your swimwear because they can actually cause more damage to delicate garments and can permanently damage straps, ties, and cups.
- Fill a sink or bucket with cool water.
- Add a squirt of SWIM™ all-natural laundry detergent to the water.
- Wash swimwear inside out for best results. Gently agitate the water, detergent and swimwear and let the suits soak for 30 minutes.
- Rinse with cool water to ensure that all detergent has been rinsed thoroughly. Rinse a second time just to be safe!
Squeeze! Gently squeeze out all excess water by rolling it in a clean towel. This is the most gentle method for removing water from your swimwear.
Air Dry Flat! In a cool, dry location indoors allow your swimwear to dry completely. You do not want to put away a bathing suit before it’s been dried.
Store Safely! To help preserve the shape of your swimwear, store the top and bottom nested together. Once it’s 110% dry you can store it in a dresser drawer or fabric garment bag. Don’t ever store swimwear in an airtight container.
